The time finally came, it was time to say goodbye to Iaşi, the amazing children that I met, new friends, our apartment...Romania. It was hard to say goodbye, but at the same time, I was ready to go home.
We took an overnight train Thurs night, April 14th, and arrived in Bucharest Friday morning. We had a whole day in Buch (Bucharest) our flight didn't leave until early Saturday morning.
In Buch we stayed at a hostel called the Funky Chicken Hostel...what a name.
We went exploring and went inside of the second largest building in the World, after the Pentagon, called the Palace of the Parliament..or the People's Palace, which is ironic because it was built during Romania's communist rule and it didn't really help the people. We didn't go on a tour of the building, but we went inside. :) It is really pretty on the outside.
Right across the street from the Palace of the Parliament was a park with a HUGE playground! Children in Romania probably dream of this playground because it was so awesome!...Yeah, five college girls went and played on it. :)
In this same park there were big boards next to the sidewalk and they were covered in graffiti. They were put there so that kids would have a place to tag. They looked pretty sweet.
While we were walking around we also saw a really funny sign. The picture with a smiley face on the sign says: it's okay, stand on the grass. Those signs were everywhere and they made me laugh every time. :)
